I was just curious of peoples favorite shows from the following years; '81,'83,'84','86,'92, and '94. I'm doing a chronological project on the Grateful Dead and I have nothing from these years as I'm not to familiar with them.

Just to add a few: 6/8/92 is one of the best from that spotty year, imho. A solid show. 10/1/94 has a huge Scarlet> Fire. Has to be the best version from the last two years, and possibly the last 3-4 years.

I've been on an early 80's kick for a little while now and this period is marked by fast and furious playing from the band with Brent really coming into his own and pushing songs into new territory. Help>Slip>Frank revival is awesome. Also the audience recordings are really really good.

1981:

Uptown (whole run is great): http://www.archive.org/details/gd1981-02-26.mtx.chappell.sb02a.28383.sbefail.flac16

I don't venture far into the 80s, but the Autumn tour from 1981 has some great shows - http://www.archive.org/details/gd81-10-19.sbd.macdonald.7914.sbeok.shnf if you don't mind a bit of hiss an exceptional second set. Or this - http://www.archive.org/details/gd81-10-16.sbd.vinson.1217.sbeok.shnf for a spontaneous show with unusual set lists.

Excellent right out of the gate with a strong Shakedown and a rockin first set. The Playing>Bertha>Estimated>GDTRFB is off the charts. The whole show is high-octane!

Just a couple out of those years listed that I feel strongly enough about to say, yes--this is my favorite of that year...for 1981:

http://www.archive.org/details/gd81-05-01.wise.clugston.2218.sbeok.shnf

No contest. Whole show is pristine. My favorite ever LIG and a killer DEAL to follow. Sweet WHEEL in 2nd set, but the whole show is aces.

and for 1984: Doesn't get any better than this, especially the amazing 2nd set:

The UJB>SPACE>PITB within SPACE>PITB REPRISE>UJB REPRISE>MORNING DEW will blow your mind if you've never heard it before. (and even if you have ;-)
